WSUS Package Publisher is an open
source tool to assist with managing a WSUS (Windows
Server Update Services) server. Provides some functionality missing from
the standard WSUS console such as checking computers in WSUS against Active
Directory and batch management of Computer Groups.
WSUS Package Publisher allows you to
publish your own updates as MSI, MSP or EXE files. Hence, you can deploy
applications like Adobe Reader, Java, Flash Player or Symantec Endpoint
Protection 12.1. and update them.
You can import updates from vendor catalogs like Dell, HP and Fujitsu to publish hardware updates like drivers or new BIOS versions to your servers and PCs.
You must have a WSUS infrastructure installed and running to use this application. With this application you can:
- Publish
- Approve
- Delete
- Review
... updates.
You can also generate reports to track the status of installation of updates.
You can even find computers that are in AD but not in WSUS.

Prerequisites
- You must have WSUS Infrastructure installed and running.
- You must have .Net Framework 4.0 installed.
- You can install WSUS Package Publisher on the WSUS Server or on a workstation (In this case, WSUS Administration Console must be installed on this workstation).
- If WSUS Package Publisher is installed on a workstation, you must add the user to the "WSUS Administrators" group on to the WSUS server.
- You have to be Administrator of the computer where WPP run.
- With Windows 8, you must install RSAT (Remote Server Administration Tools) before.
- To deploy third party applications, each package will be digitally signed by WSUS Package Publisher. The certificate used can be provide by you, or else can be generate by WSUS Package Publisher (self-signed certificate). This certificate must be installed on client’s computer
- You must have WSUS Infrastructure installed and running.
